SHIFT HAPPENS

blog

Not all stress is harmful. In fact, positive stress—often called “eustress”—can serve as the push we need to embrace new opportunities and rise to the occasion. Starting a new job, stepping into a leadership role, or adjusting to a major life change can feel overwhelming at first. Yet, this kind of stress is a sign of growth. It reminds us that we are being stretched beyond our comfort zones into new levels of potential. As James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Life transitions often bring new schedules, responsibilities, and expectations. The key is not to let change intimidate you, but to see it as an invitation to become stronger and more disciplined. Creating routines that support your new season—such as setting aside time for prayer, planning your days intentionally, or carving out rest—will help you feel grounded. Instead of resisting change, lean into it with confidence, knowing that God equips you for every door He opens.

It’s easy to let fear creep in and sabotage your progress. Doubt whispers, “Am I really ready for this?” or “What if I fail?” But those thoughts are distractions meant to keep you from stepping fully into what you’ve been prepared for. Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” You don’t have to question your ability when God has already called and equipped you. Courage doesn’t mean you never feel fear—it means you choose to move forward in spite of it.

So, remember: don’t shrink back when opportunity knocks. Walk boldly through the open door with faith and determination. Celebrate small wins, give yourself grace during the adjustment period, and lean on supportive community when the weight feels heavy. You’ve got this. I've got this. More importantly, God’s got you. Positive stress is not your enemy—it’s the fuel that can propel you into your next level. Keep moving, keep growing, and trust that every step forward is part of His perfect plan.
