Transparency Moment: Some people have asked why did I start a podcast? Do I still have my mink lash brand, Camiki Mink? How am I dong both while still in the military and (as of last Thursday) graduate with a college degree? I will tell you. I started Camiki Mink because there was a point in my life when I did not love myself – like myself. I attempted to cover up my insecurities with lots of clothes, weaves, wigs and makeup. (But, isn’t that what you sell, Cam? Yes. But, the basis of my brand is not just about purchasing product. There are so many brands out here pushing products, yet failing to focus on what matters – the inner people, the inner beauty. Do I want you to rock with Camiki Mink?! Yes! But, I also want my clients and customers to grasp more than just that.
We, especially women, hear (and see) so much negativity growing up that it become programmed like a tape recorder over and over. That can only be changed by changing the narrative of what it seen and heard. What is the point of purchasing tones of products from various brands and you still do not love yourself or what you see in the mirror? I want my clients and customers to know they are beautiful, smart, and powerful – inside and out. Camiki Mink is an outward celebration of that journey and revelation of inner beauty.
My podcast, SPEAK[HER], is a space that we as women can freely discuss issues or ideas within our community without judgement. So with that being said, thank you to everyone that has walked this path with me, even prior I been branding. I hope you know and realized how awesome you are. You were not last, you were protected.
