At some point, we’ve all faced opportunities that made us wonder, “Am I really ready for this?” Feelings of inadequacy can creep in quickly when we’re stepping into new roles, responsibilities, or seasons. It’s easy to believe the lie that we’re not enough or that someone else could do it better. Yet, the truth is that God often calls us into spaces where we don’t feel fully qualified—because His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Not feeling “ready” doesn’t mean you’re not capable. Growth happens in the stretch, and sometimes our qualifications come through experience, not just preparation. Think about Moses, who doubted his ability to lead because of his speech, or Gideon, who questioned why God chose him at all. Despite their insecurities, God used them mightily. Your doubt doesn’t disqualify you—it simply reminds you to rely on the One who called you.
Instead of allowing fear to paralyze you, shift your perspective. See each new opportunity as an invitation to partner with God in building something greater than yourself. Equip yourself through prayer, study, mentorship, and practice—but don’t wait until you feel 100% “ready.” If you wait for perfect conditions, you may never move forward (Ecclesiastes 11:4). Remember: God equips those He calls, and obedience is greater than perfection.
So, the next time you feel unqualified, step forward anyway. Walk in faith, lean into the grace of God, and trust that He will meet you along the way. You are not defined by your insecurities, but by His calling on your life. Your willingness to show up, even in imperfection, is the very thing that will open doors and create impact. You may not feel fully qualified—but you are chosen, and that is more than enough.
