PINS & NEEDLES

Loves, this next chapter has me nervous for so many reasons. Today’s blog is for you. But, it’s actually a locker room speech for myself.

Let’s be real—stepping into something new can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re pursuing a new opportunity, launching a creative project, starting a business, or entering a new chapter of life, those familiar butterflies in your stomach may leave you questioning if you’re ready.

But here’s the truth: being nervous is actually a good thing. It’s a sign that you’re stepping beyond your comfort zone, stretching yourself, and moving toward growth and possibility. Let me explain why embracing those nerves can actually work in your favor.

 1. Nervousness Means You Care

When you feel nervous about something, it shows that you care deeply about the outcome. You want to do well. You want to be impactful. That emotional investment is a good thing—it means you’re approaching the experience with intention. The alternative would be indifference, which rarely leads to meaningful results.

 2. It Signals Growth Is Happening

Feeling nervous means you’re stepping into unfamiliar territory, which is where growth lives. The discomfort of doing something new or uncertain stretches your capacity and helps you evolve. Whether you’re speaking at an event, launching a creative project, or entering a new relationship, that anxious energy is an indicator that you’re moving forward.

 3. It Fuels Focus and Performance

Believe it or not, a healthy dose of nervousness can sharpen your focus. When adrenaline kicks in, it increases your alertness, sharpens your mind, and heightens your senses. Athletes, speakers, and performers often experience pre-show jitters, but they use that energy to enhance their performance. You can do the same—channel those nerves into purposeful action.

4. It Keeps You Humble and Teachable

Nervousness keeps you grounded and humble. It reminds you that you don’t know it all—and that’s a good thing. Being nervous creates space for you to ask questions, seek guidance, and remain open to learning. The most successful creatives and entrepreneurs embrace this mindset because it keeps them adaptable and innovative.

5. It Proves You’re Walking by Faith

Let’s be real—if you were completely confident in every step you took, faith wouldn’t be necessary. Nervousness means you’re stepping into a space where faith becomes essential. It’s the reminder that you can’t do it all in your own strength, and that’s okay. God often calls us into unfamiliar waters, where we have no choice but to lean on Him.

How to Reframe Your Nerves

Breathe and ground yourself: When nerves kick in, take a moment to breathe deeply and refocus. Remind yourself: “I’m stepping into something new, and that’s exciting.”

Turn nerves into fuel: Channel your anxious energy into preparation and action. The more prepared you feel, the more empowered you’ll be.

Trust the process: Don’t fight the feeling—embrace it as part of the journey. Nerves are simply a byproduct of doing something that matters.

🌟 Final Thoughts

Feeling nervous doesn’t mean you’re unqualified—it means you’re on the verge of expansion. It’s a sign that you’re stepping into new territory with intention. So, the next time you feel those nerves rising, don’t shrink back—lean in. Let that feeling remind you that you’re on the edge of something meaningful.

You’ve got this. (I’ve got this!).

XO,

Cam
